The Transgender Identity Survey (2023)

Latex, steel, tattoo ink, grommets, twine, research study

The graph tattooed into this skin-like surface was ripped from a research study titled The Transgender Identity Survey: A Measure of Internalized Transphobia published in the National Library of Medicine in 2020.
Making this piece was an effort to shorten the distance between research and researched.

I became frustrated with the theoretical way trans bodies are written about so often, so I imagined a way to represent the forced vulnerability many of us face when being asked to justify our identities and the existence of our bodies in academic and medical spaces.
