I want to be so soft that when rain touches me I dent, 18 in x 18 in
I created this series of paintings as an exploration of dreaming and world building amid the reality of increasing violence against trans bodies. When I dream, I am able to separate from this reality temporarily, rising above the body, chronic pain, and disability. These paintings are portals, spells, and poems, a glimpse into a dream world you and I can inhabit and bring into our waking lived experience. Through these externalizations, I give myself futurity and softness. The three paintings in this series are titled I Want to Be So Soft That When Rain Touches Me I Dent, I Was Tall and Elegant, and I Will Know By Feeling.
